Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to exercise all day and get paid at the same time? Sounds too good to be true, right? Maryland inbound marketing firm, Blue Corona, is making it a reality. The company is integrating "walkstations" into the workplace as an alternative to traditional desks. What's a walkstation? Essentially, it's a treadmill with a built-in desk that allows you to walk and work simultaneously!
The move comes after President, Ben Landers, made the switch.
"I absolutely love my treadmill workstation. I only wish I had made the switch earlier. I spend a lot of my day doing research and writing reports. Both are extremely easy to do while walking. I have to go slow in order to avoid typos, but it's amazing how many miles you can rack up when you're walking for hours at a time. On an average day, I end up walking 6-8 miles which is really great because working 60-80 plus hour weeks doesn't leave much time outside of work to exercise," said Landers.
According to the Mayo Clinic, "walking is a low impact exercise with numerous health benefits." It can lower LDL cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol), raise HDL cholesterol ("good" cholesterol), lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of diabetes, elevate employee moods and more.
The new walkstations are just one of the many employee benefits Blue Corona offers. As the team continues to grow and expand, leadership is always looking for fun, new ways to create a fun, but productive work environment.
