A full service labor contractor with locations in Baltimore, Virginia, and Texas, Skillforce represented a unique challenge for our designers in that the company targets two audiences: people looking to hire and people looking to get hired. Whether someone was looking for work or looking for workers, Skillforce wanted to relay both their industry professionalism and the high quality of work done by their skilled laborers.
We really wanted to expand Skillforce’s brand through colors (their old site ONLY featured blue and white) and imagery in their redesign. The images in particular needed to clearly communicate to potential employees and clients that Skillforce was a desirable commercial construction staffing agency.
In addition, we needed to give users an easier way to contact the company that also offered Skillforce more up-front information about either the candidate or client.
We took Skillforce’s brand to the next level by adding orange to their color scheme, in addition to purchasing better imagery. While the effect of this may seem small to read about, it’s a whole other story when you look at the final product.
To accommodate both target audiences, we created key functioning points around the website—including in the header buttons and contact forms—that allowed people to funnel themselves based on their needs.
Other features included a fixed header for easy navigation and an interactive client app feature to feed fresh job postings.
