It’s a bit ironic that Seth Godin put this post up after I just had a conversation on this topic with one of the people at SmartCEO. We were having a lunch meeting and they were tossing out their print advertising “schtick” combined with some events.
Despite being a fan of SmartCEO – it’s the best of the local business owner type pubs, I just can’t help but believe that it is on the fast track out. I don’t doubt the value of SmartCEO’s events – I just don’t quite understand why they are sticking with the toilet rag instead of building out their digital products and continuing with the events.
Surely it’s because they make so much more money (at present) from the print rag and they speculate that they’d never duplicate it from the web. Back to Seth’s blog post – build it now because by the time they really need it – it’ll be too late.
