How to Use Houzz for Your Business Part 2: More Marketing Tips
Houzz Has New Features…Get the Scoop!
The other week, I attended a Houzz webinar, where I got a brief summary of new features. To be honest, I went in thinking I may not learn something useful—but I was wrong (why can’t I admit this so easily when I’m arguing with my siblings?).
Houzz has a few new features that I want to share with you all because I think they could be useful for your marketing! If you’re a remodeler, builder, or landscape designer (or another company with a Houzz profile), get the scoop on Houzz’ newest tools.
What Are the New Houzz Tools?
These are four of them that may be beneficial for your business:
Many of you collaborate with clients using Ideabooks (and as a best Houzz practice, everyone should utilize Ideabooks). They are great visual tools to make organization and communication super easy. Houzz is now offering a Sort by Client feature, which simplifies things even more. Let’s say you’re going to a design meeting with Client “A.” You can pull out your tablet and filter your Ideabooks for “A.” You can also sort by type. For instance, if you only want to look at “sunroom” Ideabooks, you can filter for them.
This one is my favorite new Houzz feature! It takes client collaboration to a new level. Sketch allows you to:
- Make notes, add icons, and draw right on the photos (to communicate even better with clients)
- Use floorplans where you can put in measurements
- Create mood boards to convey specific concepts or ideas
- Put images of products from the Houzz marketplace in the photo of the actual space you’re working in (now Client A can visualize that green chaise they want in their living room)
Note: Sketch is only available on mobile devices and tablets in the latest version of the Houzz app.
Houzz has also rolled out new features for their local marketing program. If you have a Pro+ membership, this is something to consider. The Pro Spotlight is in the Houzz newsletter, which goes out twice a week to over 40 million active users. It’s a piece about your company written by Houzz’ editorial staff. What a great way to gain exposure in the Houzz community!
Another new tool for Pro+ members, Pro Minute is a video feature (and we all know video marketing isn’t going away anytime soon—it’s only getting bigger). Houzz will come out to you, wherever you are, and shoot a brief company profile that you can put on your Houzz page.
