How Much Does It Cost to Advertise on Houzz?
As the owner of a company, you know how important it is to create a strong online presence and get website traffic and leads. As the owner of a remodeling company, you’ve probably heard about Houzz, a platform specifically for home design and remodeling professionals.
“Should you pay to advertise on Houzz?” “What are the benefits of Houzz?” Have you found yourself asking these questions? This blog post can hopefully provide some insights!
Benefits of Houzz
Before we get into Houzz fees, let’s talk a little about the benefits of Houzz for remodeling companies. Today, as most business owners like you know, word of mouth alone is simply not enough. To be perfectly honest, neither is just having a website. You also need a strong online presence outside your website for the best chance to get leads and sales—this includes social media and directories related to your industry. If you’re in the home design/remodeling business, Houzz is a must.
Here is a quick list of why Houzz is beneficial:
- Millions of homeowners use Houzz—and many of them are ready to hire professionals (or will be ready in the near future).
- Houzz has the largest residential design database in the world.
- Images and ideabooks on Houzz (we use these as short, repurposed informational blog posts) can rank in Google organic search results, which can lead to more online visibility and traffic and leads.
- Professionals like you can get in get contact with homeowners through Houzz and easily answer their questions, communicate ideas, etc.
- Houzz is a great way to showcase one of your biggest assets as a remodeling company—your portfolio (beautiful pictures).
- You can advertise on Houzz and pay for increased visibility. Which brings us to…
Houzz Pro Account Cost
The basic Houzz pro account is free. For those who are looking for a bit more and have a larger budget, an upgrade is available: Houzz Pro+. How much does it cost to advertise on Houzz? It depends on the number of categories (architects, interior designers, builders, etc.) and service areas/regions your company wants to be associated with. And certain categories and service areas vary by cost as well.
Here is a real example for you: A remodeling client of ours spends $1,100 per month for a Houzz Pro+ account in two different categories in the Washington, DC service area: design build ($500) and architect ($600).
Should You Pay to Advertise on Houzz?
I think Pro+ has its benefits, but do I think it’s necessary to see success on Houzz? Absolutely not! Houzz Pro+ isn’t necessarily worth it for every company; it just depends on your goals and what you’re willing to spend. I’d say if you’re just starting out and/or have a smaller budget, you may not necessarily need to jump right in with Houzz Pro+, especially since there is no proof that Houzz leads come from promoted or organic results. Even with a regular (free) Houzz profile, you can engage with the community and build your reputation and authority online (which is really what Houzz—and other social media platforms—are all about, not generating leads). This is not to say you won’t get leads from Houzz! Just as with Google organic search results, Houzz organic results can help your company increase visibility and generate qualified leads.
